Progress! I've been remiss in reporting from the bathroom warfront, but am excited to report that significant milestones have been reached and it's actually starting to look like it could, at some point, become a usable space.
Over the past two weekends, new floor joists were put in, the corner support was parged, insulation was completed (yes for that one, it is now OUT of my kitchen), a new subfloor put in & leveled and over Easter weekend, drywall started going up. I'm almost in tears; fresh drywall! It should be duly noted that both hubby and myself hate drywall, well, actually finishing drywall. That has yet to be done. I imagine the dust will be a whole blog post unto itself once that hurdle is cleared.
Notice in the photo that you get a nice shot of part of the toilet. That poor toilet has been everywhere. We joked about putting it in the front yard with balloons for our son's birthday, but thought better of it because we weren't keen on the inevitable retaliation. Usually when hubby is working on the bathroom, he parks it in front of the kitchen sink which gives me an excuse not to cook since I can't reach the sink or the garbage can. Actually seeing a toilet parked in your kitchen sort of makes you lose your appetite altogether. We all have to use one, but our personal boundaries are uncomfortable with seeing one anywhere other than it's rightful spot tucked into a corner of the bathroom and behind closed doors. Basket of reading material optional.

Hurray! Wow, did you light a fire under his butt or what??? Keep that ball rolling!
BTW, I did find some roller shade that will have to do for now for the upstairs. I still can't find the fabric covered ones but I gotta have something to keep the morning sun from waking me too early.
I typoed my comment, but then it would not allow me to completely delete it...
